The Basics

When Pumping Is Not Enough

Grease interceptors are mechanical systems that wear down, clog, crack, and fail over time. When your interceptor is not functioning properly — leaking, backing up, bypassing grease, or failing inspection — pumping alone will not fix the problem. Southwaste is one of the few companies that performs full grease trap repair and replacement, backed by a Master Plumber license (M-43508). We diagnose the root cause, repair or replace damaged components, and restore your interceptor to full function. From gasket replacements and baffle repairs to complete interceptor replacements, our licensed team handles it all across all twelve states we serve.

The Importance

Why Professional Repair Matters

Licensed Expertise

Grease interceptor repair requires plumbing licensure. Our Master Plumber M-43508 ensures work is done to code — protecting you from liability and failed inspections.
r

Fix the Root Cause

Pumping a broken interceptor is a temporary band-aid. We diagnose why it failed — cracked baffle, worn gasket, improper installation — and fix it permanently.

Avoid Full Replacement

Many issues that look like a total failure can be repaired at a fraction of replacement cost. We always explore repair before recommending replacement.
i

Stay Inspection-Ready

A properly functioning, well-maintained interceptor sails through health department inspections. Repairs are documented for your compliance records.

Got Questions?

Frequently Asked Questions

Get answers to the most common questions about commercial grease trap service, compliance, and what to expect when you partner with Southwaste.

How do I know if my grease interceptor needs repair?

;
2
Warning signs include: water backing up around the interceptor lid, foul odors even after pumping, grease passing through to the sanitary sewer, visible cracks or corrosion, leaking gaskets, failing health department inspections, and interceptor lids that do not seal properly. If you notice any of these, call us for a diagnostic inspection.

Is it better to repair or replace a failing interceptor?

;
2
It depends on the age, condition, and type of failure. Cracked baffles and worn gaskets are often repairable at a fraction of replacement cost. Severely corroded tanks or structural failures may require replacement. Our licensed plumber provides an honest assessment — we never recommend replacement when repair will do the job.

Do you handle all brands and types of grease interceptors?

;
2
Yes. We work on all major brands of both indoor (under-sink) and outdoor (in-ground) grease interceptors, including concrete, fiberglass, and HDPE units. Our Master Plumber has experience across the full range of commercial grease interceptor equipment.

How long does a typical repair take?

;
2
Simple repairs like gasket replacement or flow control device installation can be done in 2–4 hours. Complete interceptor replacements typically take 1–2 days depending on access, size, and site conditions. We coordinate with your schedule to minimize kitchen downtime.
